Who We Are
With support from the Arts Council our founder Jessica was able to study in London, develop skills as a puppeteer and then set up Aurora Puppet Theatre
We are a Puppet Theatre Company based in the East Midlands, we deliver puppetry workshops and performances across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshie and Leicestershire.
Puppet Making Workshops
Participants get to make their own puppets, create their own characters and have a play with them. Our workshops are good for communication and teamwork, with games and challenges aimed at developing your creative skills.
Puppetry Basics
For those who want to learn about how to operate puppets, we deliver a puppetry 101 session where we cover the basics of operating puppets, bringing them to life and developing characters. These workshops are good for drama groups who are looking at putting on a show with puppets or students who are studying a Theatre in Education module at college or university.
Puppet Performances (Health and wellbeing)
We also deliver puppet performances with The Auroras, our special muppet style puppets that are operated by our Puppeteers. Our puppet characters are neurodivergents and suffer from one or more mental health conditions that affect their everyday lives. Each puppet has a story to tell, a significant event or challenge that they must overcome. (a Birthday Party to plan, a competition to enter or a project to complete etc.). Their additional needs make it a little harder to complete their goals, but they don’t let that stop them. By engaging with other puppets and the children that are watching the performance they are able to talk through their issues, make the right choices and overcome their personal obstacle. We feel that it’s important for neurodivergent children to feel seen and understood and our stories are real-life challenges that children today may face every day.
